Learn how to connect your Boom account to VRTrust so your listings, reservations, and reservation financials sync automatically for reconciliation and owner statements.
Who This Applies To: This article is intended for VRTrust users who are connecting Boom as their property management system (PMS), either during onboarding or when switching from another PMS.
Overview
The Boom integration connects your property management system directly to VRTrust. Once connected, VRTrust imports your listings and reservations from Boom, including each reservation's itemized financials, so you no longer need to re-enter booking data or rebuild it from exports.
For each reservation, VRTrust brings in the details you need for accounting:
Guest name, guest count, and check-in and check-out dates
Booking channel, such as Airbnb, Booking.com, or Direct
Reservation status and confirmation code
Itemized financial lines, including accommodation fare, cleaning fee, taxes, and discounts
With this data in VRTrust, you can match payouts during bank reconciliation, apply fees and commissions, and produce accurate owner statements from one source of truth.
Before You Start
To connect Boom, you'll need a Client ID and Client Secret for the Boom API. Contact your Boom account manager or Boom support and ask for API credentials to connect Boom to VRTrust.
We also recommend reviewing the following in Boom before connecting:
Listing names and addresses
Which listings are active
Taxes and fees configuration
Clean data in Boom makes setup in VRTrust faster, especially when assigning listings to owners.
Steps
Step 1: Open Connections
Navigate to Connections from the left-hand navigation.
Click + Add Connection in the upper right corner.
On the PMS tab, search for or select Boom.
Click + Connect.
Step 2: Enter Your Boom Credentials
Enter your Boom Client ID.
Enter your Boom Client Secret.
Click Submit.
VRTrust verifies your credentials and creates the connection. You won't need to re-enter them later, because VRTrust keeps the connection authorized automatically.
Step 3: Let the Initial Sync Complete
After you connect, VRTrust begins importing your listings and reservations from Boom. How long this takes depends on your number of listings and the amount of reservation history.
Step 4: Review Your Imported Data
Navigate to Reservations.
Use the Connection filter at the top of the table and select your Boom connection.
Click any reservation to open the reservation drawer and review its synced details and financial lines.
Next, review your listings and assign them to owners so reservations flow onto the correct owner statements.
Example
A guest books a four-night stay through Airbnb in Boom. The total includes the nightly rate, a cleaning fee, and local occupancy tax.
Once the reservation syncs, VRTrust shows it with:
Airbnb as the booking channel
Separate lines for the accommodation fare, cleaning fee, and tax
The guest's dates, confirmation code, and status
When the Airbnb payout arrives in your bank account, you can match it during reconciliation, and the revenue, cleaning fee, and tax are already split out for the owner statement.
Important Considerations
Only listings and reservations sync from Boom. Bank activity comes from your connected bank feeds, not from Boom.
Some booking channels add guest-facing charges that Boom doesn't itemize. When this happens, the guest-facing total in Boom may be higher than the sum of the financial lines in VRTrust.
Security deposits are not recorded as revenue, because they are refundable holds rather than earned income.
Discounts sync as negative lines, so reservation totals reflect what the guest actually paid.
VRTrust checks Boom for new and updated reservations on a regular schedule, so changes may not appear instantly. You can fetch a specific reservation manually at any time.
If you're switching to Boom from another PMS, connect Boom first, then contact support to migrate your data. Don't disconnect your previous PMS until the migration is complete.
Troubleshooting
The connection won't authorize
Double-check that the Client ID and Client Secret were copied in full, with no extra spaces.
Confirm with Boom support that the credentials are active.
A reservation is missing or out of date
Confirm the listing is active in Boom.
Fetch the reservation manually using its Boom reservation ID or URL.
Reservation totals don't match what I see in Boom
Open the reservation drawer and compare the financial lines. The difference is usually a channel charge that Boom doesn't itemize, or a security deposit.
