A listing group is a listing in its own right. It can be booked, and when it is, it needs its own fee structure. Fees on the group (parent) listing only apply to reservations booked on the group listing. They don't flow down to the listings inside it.
What a listing group is
A listing group lets you report on several listings together, producing a single combined owner statement covering all of them.
What it is not is a way to merge several listings into one. The listings inside a group keep their own contracts, their own rates, and their own fees. Grouping them changes how they're reported, not what they are.
Grouping is a reporting relationship, not an inheritance relationship.
When to set a fee on a listing group
When guests can book the group as its own listing.
Combo listings
A manager lists Unit A, Unit B, and A+B as a single larger property. A guest can book any of the three. The A+B booking can carry a different management commission than A or B on their own — it's a bigger property, often a different rate, sometimes a different cleaning fee. The fee on the group listing is what applies when someone books A+B.
If group fees flowed down to children, you couldn't do this. Setting the A+B rate would silently overwrite the rates on A and B.
