How to Correct a Co-Host Airbnb Payout Posted to the Wrong Type in VRTrust
Overview
When an Airbnb account connected to VRTrust is registered as a co-host on a listing in Airbnb, Airbnb's transaction CSV will label the payout as a "co-host payout." VRTrust ingests the payout type directly from Airbnb's CSV, so that co-host designation carries through — even if the listing is a standard managed property in VRTrust.
This article explains how to correct already-posted co-host payout deposits so that payments are properly applied to the reservation balance.
When Does This Happen?
The Airbnb account connected in VRSidekick Connections is a co-host (not the primary account owner) on one or more listings.
Airbnb labels the payout as a "co-host payout" in their CSV export.
VRTrust records the deposit with the co-host designation, which may leave the reservation balance open or the payment type incorrect.
How to Correct the Deposit
For each affected co-host payout deposit, follow these steps:
Step 1 — Create a new correcting deposit
Navigate to Deposits in VRTrust.
Create a new deposit (you can duplicate the original co-host payout deposit as a starting point).
Step 2 — Add the reservation payment line
On the Reservations tab of the new deposit, add the affected reservation(s).
Post the payout amount as a Payment line — this properly applies the payment to the reservation balance and clears the open AR.
Step 3 — Add the offsetting co-host line
On the same deposit, add a negative Co-Host line for the same amount.
This offsets and reverses the original co-host payout entry so the net impact is zero.
Step 4 — Save the deposit
Save the new deposit. The net result:
Effect | Result |
Reservation balance | Cleared (payment correctly applied) |
Co-host balance | Zeroed out (offset by negative co-host line) |
Original co-host deposit | Remains, fully offset by the new correcting deposit |
Repeat for Each Affected Deposit
Repeat Steps 1–4 for every co-host payout deposit that needs to be corrected across all affected listings.
Preventing This in the Future
To prevent co-host payout labels going forward, ensure the primary Airbnb account (not a co-host account) is connected in VRSidekick Connections. Alternatively, have the primary Airbnb account owner grant full Financial & Payout permissions to the co-host account used for the connection.
