How to Reference Unique Identifiers for CSV Imports with VRTrust

Learn how to locate, copy, and use unique identifiers for listings and contacts when importing expenses and deposits via CSV

VRTrust now includes system-generated unique reference IDs for listings and contacts. These IDs help make CSV imports more accurate and consistent by allowing records to be linked directly to the correct contacts and listings during import.

Who This Applies To: This article is intended for VRTrust users importing expenses or deposits using CSV templates and associating records with listings or contacts.

View Contact Reference IDs

To locate a contact reference ID:

  1. Navigate to Expenses

  2. Open the Vendors tab

  3. Locate the desired contact within the table

Each contact now includes a unique reference ID displayed as a system-generated string of letters and numbers.

To copy the ID:

  1. Select the reference ID within the table

  2. Copy the value to your clipboard

Add a Contact ID to an Expense Import Template

To use the contact reference ID in a CSV import:

  1. Download the expense import template

  2. Open the CSV file

  3. Paste the copied contact ID into the Contact field

During import, VRTrust will use this ID to associate the expense with the correct contact.

View Listing Reference IDs

To locate a listing reference ID:

  1. Navigate to the Listings page

  2. Locate the desired listing

  3. Copy the listing’s unique reference ID

Add a Listing ID to an Expense Import Template

After copying the listing reference ID:

  1. Return to the CSV template

  2. Paste the ID into the appropriate listing reference field

This allows VRTrust to associate the imported record with the correct property during processing.

Import the CSV File

Once the template is completed:

  1. Navigate back to the Expenses page

  2. Select Import Expense

  3. Upload the completed CSV file

During import, VRTrust will automatically use the provided IDs to determine which contacts and listings should be associated with each record.

For example, an imported expense can automatically link to both:

  • A vendor contact

  • A specific property listing

Using Unique IDs for Deposit Imports

This same workflow also applies to deposit imports.

Listing and contact reference IDs can be included in supported deposit import templates to ensure records are mapped correctly during processing.

Owner Reference IDs

Owners are also treated as contacts within VRTrust.

Because of this, owners also have unique reference IDs that can be copied and used in CSV imports when needed.

Import Results

Once the import is complete, the created records will reflect the associated listings and contacts based on the IDs provided within the CSV template.
