Sometimes a reservation is locked, and before making changes, it’s important to understand why. VRTrust provides clear visibility into what’s causing a reservation to be locked so you can take the appropriate next step.
Where to Find Locked Reservation Details
To view why a reservation is locked:
Go to the Reservations page
Select a reservation to open the reservation drawer
Lock indicators are shown at the top
Hover over each label for additional context
If a reservation is locked, VRTrust will display exactly why.
Common Reasons a Reservation Is Locked
There are two primary reasons a reservation may be locked:
1. Books Closed Date
If your books are closed through a certain date, any transactions on or before that date cannot be edited.
Example:
Books are closed through January 31
Any reservation activity dated January 31 or earlier will be locked
This ensures finalized accounting periods remain accurate and unchanged.
2. Published Owner Statements
Reservations that are included in a published owner statement are locked to preserve consistency.
Even if your books are open, these reservations cannot be edited
This prevents discrepancies between statements and underlying data
Additional Visual Indicators
You may also notice that certain actions in the reservation dropdown are grayed out.
This indicates that the action is unavailable due to the lock
These visual cues help you quickly understand what can and cannot be edited
Why This Matters
Locking reservations ensures your financial data stays accurate and consistent—especially after statements are published or accounting periods are closed. With clear indicators in VRTrust, you always know why something is locked and can move forward with confidence.
