How to update connection data

Running a fetch on existing connections in VRP

Updated over a year ago

While VRP strives to keep data consistent across different platforms and applications, relying solely on automated syncing may not always cut it. That's where manual sync (aka a 'fetch') steps come in!

In this article, we'll explore:

Why manually fetching data maybe necessary

There are a few scenarios where you might need to manually sync your data from an existing connection.

  1. Data conflicts: In situations where conflicting data arises, manual sync allows users to make informed decisions on how to resolve discrepancies.

  2. Data Validation: Manual sync provides an opportunity for you to review and validate data accuracy and completeness. By performing a fetch, you can verify that the synchronized data aligns with your expectations.

  3. Troubleshooting and Error Handling: When syncing issues or errors occur, fetch enables you to intervene and resolve the problems. It provides an opportunity to investigate the root cause of the sync failure, address any errors, and ensure the successful synchronization of data.

Overall, fetching serves as a valuable tool for maintaining data integrity and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of information across systems.

How to manually fetch data in VRP

Follow the steps outlined below to learn how to fetch data manually in VRP.

  1. From the Connections screen, find the connection you need to perform a fetch on.

  2. Hover over the 3 dots on the far right of the row and select Fetch from the list.

  3. Select a date to sync data from and then click the Refetch Data button.

Note: You may need to manually refresh your browser periodically to see that the sync is running.

  4. Once the sync has completed, the date in the Last Fetch column will be highlighted in green.

Some connections (such as QuickBooks) may ask for an Extraction type and a date range. If you know the data you are missing, select that from the Extract Type; otherwise, select Extract all types.

Select a date range to sync data from.

Click the Extract button to begin the fetch.
