Your PMS connection is the backbone of your VRTrust accounting. Once connected, it syncs your reservations, guest charges and payments, booking channels, and the financial line items used for reporting and reconciliation. Because so much of your accounting is tied to that connection, changing or removing it is not a self-serve action — a few common "quick fixes" can quietly corrupt your books.
This article explains what to avoid and the safe path for each situation.
The short version: Don't delete, archive, or reconnect an existing PMS connection yourself. To switch PMS providers, contact VRPlatform support and we'll migrate you to the new PMS. Removing or resetting a connection is also something only our team can approve and do safely.
Don't delete your PMS connection
Your historical reservations and all the accounting linked to them stay attached to the PMS connection that created them. Deleting the connection can remove that history and leave your trust and operating books out of balance.
If you believe a connection needs to be removed, contact VRPlatform support first. This is an admin-only action for a reason — our team will confirm what's safe and handle it for you.
Don't archive and reconnect the same PMS
It can be tempting to "reset" a connection that looks stuck or out of date by archiving it and connecting the same PMS again. Don't. Reconnecting a PMS re-imports reservations and financial data that already exist in VRTrust, which creates duplicate records — duplicate reservations, duplicate revenue, and reconciliation errors that are time-consuming to unwind.
If a connection looks like it isn't syncing correctly, reach out to support. In many cases the fix is a manual data fetch or a small adjustment on our side — not a re-connection.
Switching to a different PMS? We'll migrate it for you
If you're genuinely moving from one PMS to another, VRTrust migrates your accounting to the new connection through a non-destructive process that preserves your existing connection and its history. Migration is performed by VRPlatform support — it isn't self-serve. Connect your new PMS, then contact support to have us run the migration. See Migrate Your PMS Connection in VRTrust for what to expect and what information to send us.
