Do I have to choose a start and end date for fees, commissions and listing ownerships? (VRTrust)

How to set start dates for fees, commissions and listing ownerships at inception or a specific date in VRTrust

VRTrust now supports inception-based start periods for fees, commissions, and listing ownerships. This allows relationships and fee structures to begin from inception without requiring an arbitrary start date.

Who This Applies To: This article is intended for VRTrust users configuring listing fees, commissions, and ownership periods.

Configure Fee and Commission Start Periods

To configure fee inception periods:

  1. Navigate to Fees and Commissions

  2. Open a listing where fees are assigned

When applying a fee template to a listing, VRTrust now supports inception periods for fee start dates.

Apply a Fee from Inception

Instead of selecting a specific beginning date:

  1. Leave the fee configured as Inception

  2. Save the fee assignment

The fee period will display as:

  • Beginning from inception

  • Continuing through an open-ended end date

This allows the fee to remain active indefinitely without requiring additional date management.

Update Fee Dates Later if Needed

If needed, fee periods can still be updated later.

For example:

  • Add an end date to stop the fee on a specific date

  • Add a beginning date if the fee should only apply during a defined period

Configure Listing Ownership Periods

VRTrust now supports the same inception workflow for listing ownerships.

To configure ownership periods:

  1. Navigate to Listings

  2. Open the desired listing

  3. Select Add Ownership

  4. Choose the owner

  5. Save the ownership relationship

By default, the ownership period will appear as:

  • Inception through an open-ended end date

Update Ownership Dates if Needed

Ownership dates can also be updated later if a specific start or end date becomes necessary.

Why Use Inception Periods

This workflow simplifies setup for fee structures and ownership relationships intended to apply indefinitely from the beginning of the listing relationship.

This can help reduce:

  • Manual date management

  • Unnecessary setup steps

  • Temporary placeholder dates
