VRTrust Line Types allow you to record revenue or charges that don’t exist in your PMS. This is especially useful when you need to account for items like manual fees, one-off charges, or revenue that was never configured in the PMS but still needs to appear accurately in your financials.
This article walks through what VRTrust Line Types are, how to create them, and how to use them on reservations.
What Are VRTrust Line Types?
VRTrust Line Types let you create custom revenue or expense line items that can be applied to reservations as financial adjustments.
They’re typically used when:
A charge exists operationally, but not in the PMS
A PMS line item was never configured or historically used
You need to manually record revenue while keeping reporting accurate
Once created, these line types behave like standard reservation line items and can be mapped to the appropriate accounts and revenue recognition rules.
How to Create a Custom Line Type from Settings
Go to Settings
Select Reservations
Locate the section showing existing reservation line types
Click Add Line Type
Enter a name for the line item
Example: Pet Food
Map the line type to the correct account
Example: Pet Fees
Assign the line item to the correct account
Set the appropriate revenue recognition
Save the line type
The new line type is now available for use on reservations.
How to Use a Custom Line Type on a Reservation
Once a line type is created, you can apply it directly to a reservation.
Go to Reservations
Click a reservation to open the Reservation Drawer
Click add an Adjustment
Select your VRTrust Line Type
Enter the amount and save
The adjustment will now be reflected on the reservation and in reporting.
Create a Line Type Directly from a Reservation
If you’re already working inside a reservation and realize you need a new line type, you don’t need to leave the reservation.
From the Reservation Drawer:
Click add an adjustment
In the line type dropdown, select "Create a new line type"
Complete the same setup steps (account mapping and revenue recognition)
The new line type will be saved and reusable for future reservations.
